Is Your Network Doing OK?  Are You Sure?

Building a secure, flexible connected IT infrastructure presents enormous challenges to all businesses. The biggest threats in today’s network environment are vendor vulnerabilities, mis-configured software and hardware, and application flaws. It is therefore, vital that you take pro-active measures to ensure your enterprise is up and running 24x7.

Knowing where you are is the first step to getting where you want to be. A Network Health Check gives you clear, in-depth and complete visibility into your network’s vital signs. With an overall understanding of how your network functions, you can make more informed decisions for improving its performance and understand what issues are threatening availability.

Our health-check service provides a network-wide health assessment and prescription for network reconfiguration and network growth. As appropriate, NTSL will provide an analysis of existing network architecture, logical and physical infrastructure, issues and problems, performance and utilization. We tell you what can affect your network operations, and establish a plan for necessary changes. Please contact us today at info@ntsl.com. Tell us how we can complement your efforts.

Client/Server Network (LAN) for SMEs

This is a network architecture that dedicates certain computers, called servers, to act as service providers to other computers, called clients, which users operate to perform work. Servers can be dedicated to provide one or more network services such as file storage, shared printing, communications, e-mail, web response and web portal.

We will help you setup a functional, Internet strength budget network that will scale into the future with your business. Further info from info@ntsl.com .

 Get The IT Expert To Help You

The key to employing a consultant, in any field, is to appreciate the value of time and the price of mistakes. The more you delay, the worse the problem will get.

Six Reasons For Hiring  A Consultant

There will be times when you can not do the work yourself because your team is constantly stretched to the limits.  The crucial advantage your consultant has is that they have seen the problem before and know the short cuts.  So to avoid the pitfalls you need someone with experience.  Here are situations where NTSL consultants will save you time:-

*         To give advice before you start a project - e.g. install Microsoft Active Directory

*         To upgrade the existing system - e.g. migration to Exchange 20xx

*         A critical system will not work and you need help – e.g. Network performance issues that can only be resolved by

           Network Heath Check

*         You need to fix a problem, quickly - e.g. Disaster recovery with your exchange messaging system; Share Point Portal –

           Document management and collaboration system; ISA – Internet proxy; AD Servers – DC, GC, DNS, DHCP

*         You need an extra pair of expert hands

*         You need an expert witness to settle a dispute

What  A Consultant Can Bring To Your Organisation

People often think there is only one way of doing things - the way their organisation has always done a particular task.  An independent consultant will open your mind to new ways and new ideas.

*    Practical know-how of the system in question.

*    Detective skills gained from solving a similar problem.

*    Speed in diagnosing the problem.

*    Knowledge of where to look for the answers.

*    Extra resources, specialist tools and those precious commodities - time and focus.

Consultancy Example: Server And Network 'Health Check'

Seven points check list:-

*    Processor - CPU Usage

*    Available memory

*    Application (Process) usage

*    Network utilisation

*    Disk performance

*    Network connectivity/Resources – DNS, WINS, DHCP, Internet Proxy, Messaging System

*    Event Log - Diagnosing and eliminating errors

An Example Of A Summary With Recommendations

Project Brief: To improve network response.  To isolate the bottleneck and produce cost effective solutions.

*    Processor and Disk are fine, no bottlenecks.  Memory paging is excessive, and the available memory is critically low.

      I suggest you upgrade the RAM from 128 to 512MB.  Network utilisation is high in the mornings, averaging 25% for

     several hours.  As a solution, consider segmenting the two floors to improve network performance.

*    Propose moving Exchange 5.5 from the Domain controller to its own server.  However this may be overtaken by

     events if the proposed migration to Exchange 20xx goes ahead.

*    Event Log indicates Backup is not working some nights, check the tape drives.  DNS errors indicate that there is

     an error in the root domain configuration.  Suggest you set up a timeserver on the network.
